I work in a person-centred way, respecting your uniqueness as an individual and honouring your own process. You are the expert on you, not me nor anyone else for that matter, and therefore the counselling process is yours to make use out of in a way that works for you. I help by accompanying you along the way, helping you make sense of yourself; your feelings, desires, wants, needs, choices and your direction in life.
I also work in a highly relational way, meaning that I place a lot of value on the relationship between me – you. What happens between us in therapy is therefore collaborative, transparent and co-creative. I work hard to attune to your inner world as best I can whilst also tuning into my own inner experiences. This tuning in and mutual resonating can often create a depth of relating that is profound and healing.
There are many branches of person-centred therapy. I specialise in the branches of emotion-focused and body-orientated approaches, integrating mindfulness practices or concepts where appropriate. I believe in the wisdom of our own bodies and I believe in the necessity of our emotions to guide us towards our best interests and ultimately towards our happiness. Therefore, you may experience me in therapy as someone who not only reflects back to you your emotions and body movements, but actively invites you to explore these processes at depth
