Hi, I’m Mike. I’m an experienced person-centred therapist and mindfulness teacher, specialising in emotion-focused and body-orientated approaches to person-centred counselling and psychotherapy. I hope you find this website useful and that you’re able to get what you need from the information here. However, if you have questions then please do not hesitate to contact me.
What I can help with
I work effectively with a vast array of common mental health difficulties and challenging life situations; depression, anxiety, trauma-related difficulties, relationship problems, identity issues, life transitions / adaptations, bereavement, low self-esteem, existential concerns, stress / burnout to name a few. However, the reasons that people come to see me are always unique to them and I treat them as such, rather than adhering to some sort of script or formula. I will treat you as the individual you are and help you feel like ‘you’ again.

What to expect when booking counselling
- Step 1: After contacting me I will email you back within 24hrs – 48hrs.
- Step 2: Choose between an informal chat to begin with or book your first therapy session straight away.
- Step 3: In your first therapy session we will go through a working agreement, often referred to as a ‘contract’, detailing the particulars of our work together. The first session will also be an opportunity for us to establish what your initial intentions, expectations, hopes, and aims are for our work together.
- Step 4: We may decide to work together for a set amount of sessions (usually a minimum of six) particularly if you have specific aims in mind or we might work together in an open-ended way, allowing the therapy to unfold over time.
- Step 5: Most commonly I will leave it to you as to when feels right to end your counselling sessions. You can end at any time and in whatever way is right for you.
